DESCRIPTION: This project is an outreach to the different communities that we work with. Mision Caribe provides training on the areas of cooking, bakery, crafts and others. We have blessed both, members form the church as well as non Christians who are interested on learning a trade, in order to sell products and make some income for their families. We have had many non Christians come to the courses and some have continued to join the different services and churches. We believe that as we serve others they will see our faith through our actions. METHODOLOGY: · The courses are taught on 4 consecutive Saturdays, and last 4 hours per session, in the case of cooking and bakery. Longer sessions are necessary for crafts. · Every session includes a devotional time. The instructors also share how their skills can be an instrument through which they can make an income for themselves and their families. · Mision Caribe provides the facilities, finds the instructors and provides the ingredients or materials for the trainees. By the end of the session the women are blessed not only with what they learned, but they also take home what they made to share it with their families and others. So far we have had 2 courses with the San Luis and Villa Franca areas. We had 20 women enrolled for our first course and 16 women on the second. Some of the things we learned include donuts, pizzas, cookies, rice krispies, flour tortillas, etc. Some women shared that they sold some of their donuts and made some more to sell during the week. WE NEED YOUR HELP! · As you know there is a great number of single mothers in our country. This project can be carried out with about $60 per session. · It is our prayer that this training might be provided by Mision Caribe at least 6 months per year in different areas and villages.
