Check out what some previous short term missionaries had to say about their experiences with Mision Caribe.
When God showed me Honduras, I knew it it would be in my heart forever. Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it has some of the most inspirational and life-changing people that I’ve ever come in contact with. It’s been a true blessing, and I will thank God for this place for the rest of my life. Dios se bendiga. -Katie Morgan, Short-Term Missionary (to read more of Katie’s Story Click Here)
Mision Caribe is a growing and healthy segment of the church. It’s a privilege and a blessing to work with Deniss and Ana, the pastors of the churches and the support staff. I’ve worked with them in different missions projects for 5 years and the way God works through them continues to amaze me as well as the people on the teams that I’ve led. I look forward to each trip. -Matt Harenza, Board Member
From the moment we landed, I fell in love with the beauty of Honduras. From the landscape, to the people, to the simplicity of life, God really showed me how His beauty is flowing through this country. God is doing a mighty work in Honduras and it was such a blessing to get to be a part of that. I’m so grateful for the love and hospitality that is so ingrained in their way of living. I’m challenged to model my life in the same way. -Lori Langebartels, Short Term Missionary
My mission trip to Honduras really put things in perspective. The people of Villa Franca live in very poor conditions, yet when you talk with them, all they can do is praise God for what they do have, for their families and for their health. Truly amazing! -Cindy Stark, Short Term Missionary
Sweat, dirt, emotions, worship, soccer (futbol), the will of God, learning, teaching, and yes, Fanta united, mixed together homogeneously in a cauldron, and that cauldron containing this work of God, through the hands of his people was poured out upon the city of Tegucigalpa and surrounding villages. My experience was nothing short of fantastic and you were introduced to a mere glimpse in darn near insulting fashion of what was entailed within this 10 day trip with the opening line. One cannot reach the soul of a person without first reaching the needs. In America it that need could be a friend to talk to; in Honduras the need could be a house and God opens the doors and offers us learning experiences and motivations in exercising a plan of attack in favor of the great commission by allowing us to reach the needs of his people all over the world. In effect he gives us the tools and we hold the choice to serve. Many great, spiritually moving things happened in 10 days, but there is still a lot of work to be done; not only in Honduras but America and the rest of the world – the mission never stops. -Luke Roesler, Short Term Missionary
Recently while in Honduras with Mision Caribe, we went to an orphanage in the mountains outside of Tegucigalpa. We fed the children, did a gospel presentation through puppets, played soccer, painted faces and did an art project with them. I worked in the art project area. Several of the children would follow directions well creating their projects. Some wanted to do it their own way and weren’t interested in receiving help. Then there was Jocelyn. She was seven years old but about the size of a four or five year old. We drew an outline of their hands then they were to paint whatever they wanted inside of the outline. Jocelyn was holding her brush way at the top and just smearing paint around the middle of her hand. I showed her how to hold the brush down close to the bristles then took her hand in mine and showed her how to follow the outline of her hand with the brush. She looked up at me and her face was lit up with the most beautiful smile. She then tried again on her own and with a little reminder of how to hold her brush, she was able to trace the outline with near perfection. When she finished she looked up at me again with a great big smile. I wondered how often she had someone to show her how to do even the little things correctly.
As I pondered this on the bus back to Tegucigalpa, God began to speak to me about my relationship with Him, asking me if I smiled and received his correction and instruction with great joy or if I brushed Him away wanting to do things on my own. I went to share God’s love with the children at the orphanage, but through that one small child, God revealed more of his love to me. - Tom Langebartels, Short Term Missionary
